Launch of The Enterprise Game

The Enterprise Game has been developed by Halton Education Business Partnership for use in schools to aid in the delivery of Enterprise education programmes.  500 editions of the Hampshire game have been sponsored by local companies, whose names are displayed on the board, and representatives from these companies, together with students and teachers from the Hampshire Enterprise Hub & Spoke Schools, attended the launch of the game at the Rose Bowl, on 1st May 2008.  Several of the game's sponsors played the game with the students; the atmosphere was electric as students sought to out-manoeuvre each other and cope with unexpected events and debt management.  Everyone thought it was a great way to learn!

The game takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes to play and requires 4 players and a banker (ideally a person with business experience), who adopts the wider role of financial consultant.  Unlike Monopoly, the game involves many skills, testing players' perseverance, creativity, ability to plan strategically, manage risks and cash flow along with problem solving and decision making.  The objective of the game is to purchase production capacity, and then manage the production, sales storage and shipment of 'stox' to customers located around the board.  Each of the local sponsors has their own space on the board and roads have been adapted to give a local feel.  The winner of the game is the player who generates most profit when all the customers have bought 'stox'.

The games are stored at the three Hampshire EBPs, located in Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke, and  are now available for use by any school in Hampshire.
